Pastor Rick
The trip to Haiti has opened my heart and mind to things I have never experienced before.
It was alarming initially to see poverty all around me and to know it would take incredible
resources to bring change to this culture. The irony is that the people of Haiti seemed reconciled
to a lifestyle where survival is something you face daily. When you strip away money and
possessions you are left with God and relationships; I have witnessed and learned if that was
all you had it would be sufficient. The people of the community have welcomed us with open
arms and are very interested in remaining friends. I had a private language lesson yesterday
to "speed learn" Creole. (I think there is a video it was pretty funny,) I have trouble with English
let alone a foreign tongue!
I am grateful for the blessing of serving God and especially for my week here. I never would
have dreamed I would be digging a foundation 3 feet deep for a family with 6 kids to be able
to move out of a tent. I would not trade this week, it has again help me focus on what is
important.....people & God.
He said to his disciples, "The harvest is great but the workers are few.
So pray to The Lord who is in charge of the harvest: ask them to send
workers into his field"
Mathew 9:37-38
